unnecessary startup programs which slow down your computer.
Make a "My Computer"
Toolbar.
This is the fastest way I know to get to the
Control Panel or Dial-up Networking
folder.
- Right-Click in a blank area of the task bar (
the gray area between the start button and the system tray icons.)
- Point to "Toolbars."
- Click "New Toolbar."
- Click "My Computer."
- Click OK.
- Drag the left border of the new tool bar to the right until
nothing is showing except the words "My Computer."
- To use the new toolbar simply click the double-tipped arrow
and point to the the drive and/or folder(s) you wish to view.
- Click the file you wish to open or right-click the file
or folder for more options.

Do you want an icon for Free Cell or Solitaire on
your desktop?
- |Right-click the "Start" Button.
- Select "Open."
- Double-click the "Programs" Folder.
- Continue to double-click folders until you have opened the
folder with the shortcut to your program. (e.g. Solitiare--Acessories...
Games)
- Drag the icon using your right
mouse button to a blank area of the desktop.
- Select "Create Shortcut Here."
Delete Icons on Your

Do you want to get rid of that annoying AOL or MSN
icon on your desktop?
- Click once on the offending icon until it is highlighted.
- Press the "Delete" key on your keyboard.
- Click "Yes" to send it to the recycle bin.
- Voila! It's gone!
Disable
Unnecessary Startup Programs
Has our system tray (icons in lower right-hand
corner) been filling up with icons?
Is your computer running more slowly than it used to?
- Download and install CodeStuff
Starter.
- Click the Start button.
- Point to Programs....Point to CodeStuff Starter....Click the
Starter icon...Click the Startups tab.
- Look up the titles of each startup item one at a time at the
Start-up
Applications List web site.
- Disable each title listed in Startup Manager as "N" or "X"
on the web site list by unchecking the box in
front of each item.
- Any titles which are listed as "U"
may also be disabled if you are satisified you don't need that
functionality after reading the description.
- Close Startup Manager.
- Reboot your computer
- See and feel the difference.
- Some programs will come back into the startup list by
themselves. You may have to look in the options/preferences of
that program to uncheck
the "start when windows starts" option.
- Disabled items can later be completely deleted in Startup
Manager by clicking the "Delete" button
on the Startup Manager toolbar.
